For whom

Gazprom Neft is one of the efficiency leaders in the Russian oil industry and the first Russian company to begin oil production on the Russian Arctic shelf.

Problem

Arctic logistics processes had several constraints:

  • No unified interactive dispatching and data visualization
  • Slow tonnage allocation and voyage replacement
  • Lengthy approval process for the export calendar plan
  • Misalignment between departments and manual document flow
  • Strong dependency on the human factor

Goal

  • Visualize routes, schedules, and metrics
  • Optimize the supply chain and department synchronization
  • Create a digital workflow based on roles and areas of responsibility
  • Automate planning and route management
  • Implement an AI model for forecasting and correcting deviations

Approach

We built the project using design thinking:

Held strategy sessions involving all participants
Organized in-depth interviews and role-based usability testing
Digitized existing processes and identified bottlenecks
Worked with department heads on optimization
Proposed a new target process model

Research

  • Conducted 12+ in-depth interviews with key participants
  • Identified bottlenecks: human factor, fragmented software, weak synchronization
  • Analyzed dependencies and nodes in logistics processes
  • Formed and aligned a new digital logistics model

Solution: UX/UI and Mobile App

Designed a unified digital tool for Arctic logistics, including:

  • Interactive map: ports, loading points, transshipment, routes, metrics, and details for each vessel
  • Voyage board: status, progress, and delays
  • Interface for volume redistribution and supply approval
  • Role-specific interfaces, from dispatchers to management
  • AI model: route forecasting and optimization, response to deviations
  • Mobile app for decision-making outside the office

Every solution went through usability testing and was refined into a convenient, realistic format. Development ran in parallel streams, providing speed and flexibility.

Company Impact

The project created several important changes inside the company:

  • The project became an industry benchmark
  • Launched a trend toward digitalization and a design-led approach inside the company
  • Became the basis for creating the design system for Gazprom Neft and partners
  • Motivated transformation of the physical workspace: renovation, video wall, and improved communication

Company Impact

We created more than a product: a unified digital solution for highly complex Arctic logistics, combining UX, analytics, design, automation, and deep process understanding.

The product fundamentally changed the approach to logistics in Arctic conditions and proved that even the largest corporations can implement flexible, efficient, and user-friendly digital solutions.
